Turkish Straits Safe Passage and Navigation Practise Training

The training is planned for 2 days (16 lesson hours in total ); 8 lesson hours theory on the first day and 8 lesson hours of simulator practise on the second day. Each lesson is 45 minutes long with 5 minutes break between lessons .Theoretical training on the first day will be conducted in a classroom at PRU Main Campus and practical training on the second day will be conducted face to face at PRU simulator located in the Simulator Center.

Introducing and reinforcing through practical application, the procedures and principles that will assist/ support ensure safe passage through the Turkish Straits.

Masters, First Officers, Deck Officers, Yachts Masters.

Day 1 – Theoretical 8 Class Hours

* The process from the Montreux Straits Convention to the Turkish Straits Transit Regime
* Turkish Strait Maritime Traffic Regulation and related Implementing Guidelines
* Pyysical, Morphological and Oceanographic Description of the Istanbul and Çanakkale Strait , Critical positions and areas, Navigation aids and local traffic elements
* Safe Navigation Rules and Practices in Traffic Regulation in the Turkish Straits

Day 2 – Simulator Application 8 Class Hours

* Daytime passing / passage of Çanakkale Strait
* Nighttime passing / passage of İstanbul Strait
* Assesment / Evaluation

Note: The order of  Istanbul Strait through of passage and day / night times may vary depending on demand
